Rules for 2024-2025 UPDATED 9/15/24

  

  • 1. Nine Darts Rule – After the captains have exchanged line-ups, all players not in the next game are not allowed to throw any more practice darts at the game board. All players in the next game are limited to three sets of practice throws, or nine darts, before the game starts.
  • 2. * ALL TEAMS MUST REPORT THEIR SCORES EACH WEEK – NOT JUST THE HOME TEAM BOTH TEAMS. All scores MUST reach the League Office by 8:00am Friday of the week in which the game was played.  Any team that fails to report their score WILL LOSE THE POINTS FOR THE MATCH.

  • 3. * Web Page - We have a web page www.ewdarts.com all aspects of the league can be found on this site.
  • 4. Dartboards - are to be placed 5’8” in height; from the center of the bull to the floor. The throwing line is to be 7’ 9 1/4 “ from the face of the board (not from the wall behind the board), and should be 3’ wide. Should a establishment have variables that make measurement(s) difficult the Bull to Toe line measurement is to be 9’ 7 3/8”. Dartboards must be standard boards, in good condition, and WELL LIGHTED. A scoreboard (an electronic scoreboard that utilizes DartConnect is preferred) must be provided and located in such a position that it can be easily read by players and spectators. If there is a hard floor, a rug or dart mat should be placed between the board and the throwing line. There must be a practice board available to both teams for warm up before the match begins, and between games if possible. If the two boards are close together, only one board (the game board) may be in use during the match.
  • 5. Match Starting Time – 7:30 pm is the league start time. If the visiting team is more than 30 minutes late (8:00pm). If the traveling team knows that they are going to be late, a phone call to the home teams bar is in order. Postponements of the starting time are the home team’s option.
  • 6. Players – A team should have six or more players at each match. If a team shows up with less than 6 players, they may pick up players who are NOT on their roster, to play in that match.  These players need NOT go on their roster. No person may play more than once in each group of games.   LESS THAN THREE (3) players are NOT enough to play a match however it is the obligation of the captains to work out a match with those who are there. Players travel to play the match, establishments make food commitments MAKE IT WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE.
  • 7. Forfeit– A forfeit may only be called if: 
  • a. No Player from an opposing team shows up at the match. 
  • b. The Captain or team designate does not call the opposing captain to inform of a scheduling issue DUE TO TREACHEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.  Text or v-mail is a call-no forfeit.
  • c. A missed match [DUE TO TREACHEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS] is not made up before the playoffs. 
  • d. Both Captains agree that the missed match forfeit is valid and there will be no attempt to make up the match.
  • In the event that there is a forfeit, rosters must be signed by opposing captains, giving playoff credit to those players who had shown up. If a forfeit is arranged 24hrs ahead of game time, all players from both times are given credit.
  • 8. Team forfeits – If a team misses matches 3 times, it will be dropped from the league. Teams that drop out will not be allowed to rejoin the league for the remainder of that year, or for the following year. All scores from the season will be erased.
  • 9. Foot Faults – A player’s foot may not be over the line when he throws his darts. If this happens, a player loses the dart in hand and any remaining darts in that turn. A player may step over the line between throws to get a better look at the darts he has thrown.
  • 10. Score Keeping – The home team supplies a scorekeeper. Each team may have a caller. The scorekeeper may not act as the caller for their team. The scorer must not make distracting motions while a player is shooting. If a shooter requests it, the scorer must move out of the line of site until the darts are thrown. The shooter cannot pull his darts from the board until they have been scored. If there is a scoring error, it must be corrected before the team with the incorrect score throws again. If it is not corrected by that time, the score shall remain as written. 
  • 11. Bounce Out’s – A bounce out may not be re-thrown EVEN if the thrower catches the dart.
  • 12. * Rosters – Each team must submit a roster of at least 4 (four) players but no more than 12 players BEFORE the PLAYOFF’S start. This is an open roster and changes can be made until 4 AM the Tuesday of the match. The rosters will never be frozen. Pick up players need not be added to the roster unless they become full time players (see RULE 6) 
  • 13. Match play - The captain of each team is responsible for the smooth running of the match. The home Team Captain must be sure that any overt distractions affecting match play are dealt with in a courteous manner Any dispute that arises during the course of play must be settled by the two captains’ in private conference. 
  • 14. Starting the Game – For the first game, the team captains will flip a coin, the winner of which elects the first cork shot. The lead off players then will each throw (one) dart at cork. The winning dart starts the match. If the first players dart is a cork, the second player can win by matching that shot. If the first player’s shot is a double cork, the second player must hit double cork to win. If neither player hits cork, the one who is closer to cork wins. A bounce out can be re-thrown. The cork shot is repeated to start each game, but not with the coin toss. The team that won the previous game takes the first cork shot in the next game. All darts sticking in the board on the cork shot will count. Darts do not need to be with-in in the triple ring but must be on the board to count.
  • 15. Game line Up – The captains must fill in the players names for each group of games, before that group of games start.
  • 16. Eligibility– ANY PLAYER WHO IS NOT WELCOME IN ANY OF THE ESTABLIHMENTS IN THIS LEAGUE IS NOT WELCOME IN THIS LEAGUE.
  • 17. Food– Each establishment is expected to provide some food for the players.
  • 18. League Dues – The cost of membership in the League is $100 per Team for the 2024-2025 season.

* A PLAYOFF ROSTER MUST BE SUBMITTED DURING THE OFF WEEK BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS START

  1.  Playoff Eligibility – In order to play in the playoffs, a player must be on the team’s playoff roster, and must have played in at least 6 different matches. The captain from each team may be asked to provide proof that his/her players meet this requirement. It if for this reason that captains must sign each other’s score sheets during the season. 
  2.  Team Eligibility – The top 4 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs. If any 2 teams are tied, their match record against each other will be the tiebreaker followed by their total points against each other.
  3.  Home Team – Home team in the playoffs will be the team with the most points during the season. Should one of the two divisions have less teams creating lower in-season scoring opportunity then the home team for Week 1 of the finals will be determined by their match record against each other during the regular season.
  4.  Playoffs are single elimination in the first two rounds. 

  • 1st vs. 4th and 2nd vs. 3rd
  •  The FINALS are a best of three (3): Week 1 will be hosted by the team with the Highest point total from the regular season (in case of a tie refer to playoff Rule #2). Week 2 will be hosted by the other Finalist Team. Week 3 (if necessary) The Home Team will be determined by a coin toss immediately following the Week 2 Match.
